VC moves 3 singles players and 2 doubles teams forward at Ojai

The Ventura College men's tennis team had several move past Day 1 of the 3C2A State Championships at The Ojai Tournament in play Thursday. Caua Coimbra, Abladj Mondroha and Victor Peyrebonne all advanced in the draw in singles while the doubles pairs of Coimbra and Mondroha, and Peyrebonne and Shingo Ono also moved past the first day of the state championships.

Pirate Tennis Fallsi in SoCal Semifinals

The VC men's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision Tuesday in the 3C2A Southern California Playoffs at Irvine Valley. The Pirate doubles teams of Caua Coimbra and Abladj Mondroha, and Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme each dropped close matches while Victor Peyrebonne and Guerrout were each up in their singles matches when the Lasers clinched the regional semifinal win.

Pirate freshman Shingo Ono won with Victor Peyrebonne in No. 2 doubles and clinched a VC win with his triumph in No. 6 singles as Ventura defeated San Diego 5-1 Tuesday in the 3C2A SoCal Regionals.
Men's Tennis Advances in SoCal Playoffs

The Ventura College men's tennis team advanced in the 3C2A Southern California Playoffs Tuesday with a 5-1 victory over San Diego City at the VC Tennis Center. Shingo Ono won in No. 2 doubles with partner Victor Peyrebonne and clinched the match with his win on Court 6 in singles play. Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme also won in doubles with Cotti-Helme and Yusen Sato producing victories in singles.

Peyrebonne leads Five in Singles and One Doubles Team to State

Ventura's Victor Peyrebonne had a solid week at the Western State Conference Championships at the VC Tennis Center. The first-year Pirate advanced to the 3C2A State Championships in singles and moved to state in doubles with teammate Shingo Ono in play Thursday through Saturday. Caua Coimbra, Abladj Mondroha, Yusen Sato and Ariitea Cotti-Helme also moved forward in singles to the state championships to be hosted at The Ojai Tournament later this month.

Men's Tennis Begins Play in WSC Championships

The VC men's tennis team began play in the Western State Conference Championships Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. Abladj Mondroha, Victor Peyrebonne, Yusen Sato, Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme all produced victories in the opening round of the 32-player draw. Caua Coimbra received a first-round bye to also move to the Round of 16 to be played Thursday.

Men's Tennis Continues WSC Roll with Win Over GCC

The Ventura College men's tennis team continued to roll over Western State Conference competition Thursday with a 7-2 win over Glendale at the VC Tennis Center. VC's No. 1 player Caua Coimbra was a douoble winner, leading the way with a triumph in the top doubles match with Abladj Mondroha and with a win in No. 1 singles. Mondroha, Shingo Ono and Victor Pryrebonne were also double-winners on the day.

Men's Tennis Sweeps Past Santa Barbara

The Pirates' mens' tennis team swept past Santa Barbara 9-0 Thursday at the VC Tennis Center without losing a set. Abladj Mondroha won in No. 1 doubles with Caua Coimbra and also had a victory in No. 4 singles to help lead the way. Coimbra, Victor Peyrebonne, Yanis Guerrout and Shingo Ono were also double-winners on the day.

Pirates Fall at home to Stanton University

The VC men's tennis team hosted 4-year NAIA school Stanton University Wednesday, falling to the Elks 5-2. Yesen Sato and Victor Peyrebonne each posted three-set wins in singles play while Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme won their doubles match. The match was closer than the final score as VC dropped four three-set decisions in singles play.

VC sophomore Ariitea Cotti-Helme won his No. 6 singles match in three sets, but it was not enough as the Pirates fell at Riverside, 5-4.
Men's Tennis Edged at Riverside

The VC men's tennis team dropped a narrow 5-4 decision at Riverside Tuesday afternoon. Caua Coimbra led the effort for the Pirates with wins in No. 1 doubles with Abladj Mondroha and in No. 1 singles.

Ono's Comeback Fuels Pirate Win Over Jessup

VC Shingo Ono had his back against the wall. The freshman faced three match points before surviving the game, and sending the match to a decisive third set. He then claimed the set sending the Pirates to a 4-3 victory over NCAA Divison II William Jessup at the VC Tennis Center Wednesday. Ariitea Cotti-Helme was also a double-winner for Ventura, winning in No. 2 doubles with Yanis Guerrout and winning his No. 5 singles contest.

VC Splits Pair in Division III Matches

The Ventura College men's tennis team continues their tour of the SCIAC Saturday, splitting a pair of matches against two NCAA Division III schools. The Pirates bested UC Santa Cruz 6-1 before being swept by Claremont College in the nightcap.

Pirate Men Sweep Past Mt. SAC

The VC men's tennis team swept past Mt. San Antonio Friday in Walnut, 9-0. All six Pirates were double-winners, including Yusen Sato, who won in No. 3 double swith Victor Peyrebonne and in No. 2 singles.

VC Drops Close Match at Occidental

The Pirates' men's tennis team won the doubles point Saturday at NCAA Div. III Occidental but could not hold on in singles play, falling to the Tigers 4-3. Victor Peyrebonne and Shingo Ono were both double winners for the Pirates, claiming victory in doubles and singles play.

Men's Tennis Handles Orange Coast in Battle of Pirates

The Ventura College men's tennis team prevailed in a battle of Pirates Tuesday, defeating Orange Coast 8-1 at the VC Tennis Center. Yusen Sato and Victor Peyrebonne each were double winners together in No. 3 doubles and individually in Nos. 2 and 3 singles.

Men's Tennis Drop Narrow Decision to APU

The VC men's tennis team competed well, but dropped a narrow 4-3 decision against NCAA Division III Azusa Pacific Monday morning at the VC Tennis Center. After the Cougars swept the Pirates in doubles, Yusen Sato, Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme all won their singles matches before VC fell in the final contest of the day.

Men's Tennis Sweeps Fullerton in Opener

The VC tennis team opened its 2026 season Friday, sweeping past Fullerton 9-0 at the VC Tennis Center. Cua Coimbra made his Ventura College debut with wins at No. 1 doubles with Abladj Mondroha and in No. 1 singles. Sophomore Yusen Sato won in No. 3 doubles with Victor Peyrebonne and in No. 2 singles.
