A trio of Pirate freshmen led VC's honorees on the 2017 All-Western State Conference North Division soccer team. defender Carina Cardenas and forward Audrey Castillo and midfielder Justine Reyes all earned first team All-WSC distinction in voting by the conference coaches following the season. The Pirates ended the 2017 season in the first round of the CCCAA So Cal Regional Playoffs.

Pirates' Soccer Season Ends in Playoffs

Playing in the post-season for the 21st time in 22 years, the VC women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 result at Fullerton Thursday afternoon in the Play-In Round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs. VC did get off 11 shots in the game, with five on goal, but could not find the back of the net. Goalie Maya Escobar recorded two saves in the match.

For the 21st time in the 22-year history of Ventura College women's soccer, the Pirates are headed to the playoffs. Based on the strength of a schedule that featured matches against eight teams ranked among the Top-20 in the nation, VC (9-11-2) received the No. 19-seed in the 19-team Southern California Regionals, and will travel to No. 14 Fullerton (11-6-3) on Thursday Nov. 16 for a 2:00 pm Play-In round match.

Late Goal Sinks Pirates' Ship in Regular Season Finale

On the final day of the regular season, the Pirate soccer team and visiting Moorpark played all square through 85 minutes. But a late Raider goal sank the Pirates' ship as VC fell to defeat 1-0 on Sophomore Night at the Sportsplex. Second-year Pirates Esmeralda Murillo, Valeria Ramirez and Maya Antunez saw their final action in the orange and black on the Sportsplex pitch as Ventura now awaits its playoff fate in the coming days.

VC Falls Despite Outstanding Effort Against SBCC

For an hour, the Pirates' women's soccer team went toe to toe with unbeaten Santa Barbara at the Sportsplex Tuesday night. The teams battled to a scoreless tie through halftime before the Vaqueros, unbeaten in 17 games this season, finally broke through with a goal off a corner kick. That opened the flood gates, however, and the Pirates ultimately fell 4-0 despite an outstanding effort. Goalie Maya Escobar had 10 saves in goal for the Pirates (9-10-2, 4-3).

Soccer Blanks Cuesta 2-0 in San Luis Obispo

The Ventura College soccer team made it two wins in a row Tuesday afternoon with a 2-0 shutout victory over Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. Gabrielle Pido scored both goals for the Pirates (9-9-2, 4-2) as they remain in the hunt for a post-season playoff berth.

The Pirate soccer team got back in the win column with a 1-0 victory at Oxnard College Friday afternoon. Paola Gonzalez netted the contest's lone score in the 52nd minute with an assist from Gabrielle Pido. Goalie Maya Escobar recorded four saves in goal in posting the shutout win.

Women's Soccer Falls in Close Contest at Moorpark

Playing in hot dry conditions at Moorpark Tuesday afternoon, the Ventura College soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the host Raiders. Moorpark managed a score in the 33rd minute and it stood for the result. Ventura (7-9-2, 2-2) had 12 shots with four on goal in the match.

The Pirates soccer team fell out of first place in the Western State Conference North Division with a 4-0 defeat at Santa Barbara City College Friday night. VC managed just three shots in the game, with two on goal, while the Vaqueros had 13 shots on goal. Goalie Eva Mcmillan had eight saves for the Pirates (7-8-2, 2-1). Ventura had been unbeaten in the previous four outings before Friday.

Pirates Take Hoffman Down Memory Lane at Cal Lu

The last time VC head coach Steve Hoffman coached at game at Cal Lutheran University the year was 1995 and he was an assistant with the Regals women's soccer team. Nearly 500 games and 22 years later, Hoffman took his Pirates back to the Thousand Oaks campus to lead the Pirates against Cal Lutheran's JV team. VC came out victorious in Hoffman's homecoming with a 2-0 win over CLU.

The Pirate soccer team exploded offensively Friday night, routing visiting Cuesta College 7-0 at the Sportsplex in Western State Conference play. Audrey Castillo had a pair of goals and an assist while Kayla Simmons Allon scored once with an assist, as did Paola Gonzalez. Goalies Eva Mcmillan and Maya Escobar combined for the shutout victory for VC (6-7-2, 2-0).

Pirates Defeat Oxnard to Open WSC Play

The Pirate soccer team got a pair of goals from Audrey Castillo Tuesday night at the Sportsplex, defeating Oxnard College 2-0 to open Western State Conference North Division play. The Pirates produced 30 shots in the game with 20 on goal in controlling play on the offensive end for most of the night. Goalie Eva Mcmillan had one save in recording the shutout over the Condors.

Pirates Play Visiting Citrus to Draw

The Ventura College soccer team got an early goal, but were unable to make it stand up, yielding an equalizer early in the second half in their 1-1 draw against visiting Citrus College Tuesday night. Paola Gonzalez netted the Pirates' score in the 23rd minute with an assist by Justine Reyes. Citrus, meanwhile, tied the game with a goal in the 58th minute.

Soccer Ends Skid With Shutout Win at Bakersfield

The VC women's soccer team ended a four-game losing streak and a three-game road trip with a solid 3-0 victory at Bakersfield College Saturday night. Audrey Castillo had a goal and an assist and goalie Eva Mcmillan recorded four saves in the victory for Ventura (4-7-1).

Ventura Drops Decision at Santa Monica

The Pirate soccer team dropped another close contest Tuesday night, 2-1 at Santa Monica College. Ventura received a goal from Miranda Vasquez in the 45th minute of the first half, a header redirect with an assist from Eleni Brojon. The VC goal halved their deficit at intermission, but the team was unable to find the equalizer in the second half.

VC Falls at Defending State Champion Cerritos

The road has been difficult for the Pirate soccer team, never more so than Sunday afternoon in Cerritos. VC traveled to take on the Falcons, coming away with a 4-1 loss to the defending state champions. Miranda Vasquez scored the Pirates' lone goal in the 59th minute off a corner kick.
