Four Pirate Football Players Sign NLI

Head Coach Steve Mooshagian is excited to announce that four members of the 2015 Ventura College football team have signed National Letters of Intent to transfer at mid-year. Three members of the Pirates prolific offense were highly courted recruits by several NCAA D1 schools prior to selecting and signing their NLI's in December and one member of the Pirates special team force earned his way to the NCAA D1 level.

17 Pirates Honored on Football All-Conference Teams

A record breaking season for the Ventura College football team produced 17 all-northern conference selections. The honors were highlighted by six Pirates receiving first-team All-Northern Conference Offensive honors including record breaking quarterback Ty Gangi and 1,000 yard rusher Chris Beeson.

Pirates Take Down Orange Coast in Beach Bowl.

Hosting Orange Coast College the Ventura College football team picked up a 53-39 victory in the Beach Bowl. Chris Beeson went for 146 yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns to go over 1,000 yards rushing for the season. Ty Gangi hit on 25-38 passes for four touchdowns and 329 yards. Cam Taylor hauled in two touchdown catches.

The Pirate football team earned a share of its second straight Northern Conference championship Saturday with a 37-28 win over Bakersfield. Leading the way were defensive end Mark Zavala and kicker Jake Lanski, who both earned Southern California Football Association Player of the Week honors for the Northern Conference.

The Ventura College football team will host Orange Coast on Saturday Nov. 21 at 6:00 pm at the VC Sportsplex in the 2015 Beach Bowl.
VC to Host Beach Bowl vs. Orange Coast

The Pirates will battle for the beach Saturday Nov. 21 at the VC Sportsplex. The Pirates and the Pirates, that is, as the Orange Coast Pirates (7-3) will visit the Ventrua College Pirates (7-3) in the 2015 Beach Bowl presented by Joe Kapp Real Estate. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm at the Sportsplex in the first ever meeting between the two teams in football after a combined 168 years of football history.

Pirate Football Earns Share of Conference Championship.

The Ventura College football team hosted rival Bakersfield College and came away with a 37-28 victory. The Pirate ground attack carried them to the victory with Chris Beeson going for 210 yards on 28 carries, while DJ Martin went for 175 on 15 carries. Beeson scored three touchdowns with Martin putting in one score. Mark Zavala collected 12 tackes and three and half sacks.

For the third time this season, Pirate quarterback Ty Gangi earned Player of the Week honors for the Southern California Football Association Northern Conference. He was most recently named the conference Offensive Player of the Week for his play Saturday at Allan Hancock, leading VC to a 45-30 victory.

Pirate Football Becomes Bowl Eligible With Win at AHC

Traveling to Santa Maria, the Ventura College football team took down Allan Hancock College 45-30. Quarterback Ty Gangi threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns. Chris Beeson had 70 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Cam Taylor hauled in seven catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Malcolm Williams had nine tackles to led the Pirate defense.

Pirate quarterback Ty Gangi was named the Southern California Football Association Northern Conference All-Purpose Player of the Week for his performance in VC's 54-48 win at Canyons Saturday.

Pirates Win Important Conference Game Over Canyons

Traveling to Santa Clarita on Halloween afternoon, Ventura College football overcame some scary times to claim a 54-48 over College of the Canyons. VC racked up 593 yards in total offense with Quarterback Ty Gangi throwing for 438 yards and four scores. Chris Beeson rushed for 96 yards and two scores with Cam Taylor hauling in 10 catches for 143 yards and two scores.

Pirates Pour on the Points in Blowout Victory

No. 7-ranked Ventura College football played host to Pasadena City College and after trailing early rattled off 45 straight points in route to a 62-31 victory. Quarterback Ty Gangi threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns with one rushing touchdown, Chris Beeson rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns. Britto Tutt collected an interception return for a touchdown.

DJ Martin (25) had 94 yards rushing and 78 yards receiving Saturday in VC's 30-23 loss at Golden West.
Pirate Comeback Falls Short at Golden West

After digging themselves into a 27-0 hole at SoCal No. 3-ranked Golden West, the seventh-ranked Pirate football team nearly made it all the way back, falling 30-23 to the Rustlers Saturday night in non-conference action in Costa Mesa. VC had possession of the ball in the final two minutes of the game with a chance to tie, but their sixth turnover ended the Pirate comeback bid.

Following the Pirates' 60-36 defeat of Moorpark in the Citrus Cup game, VC has two players who have earned player of the week honors at the state and regional levels. Quarterback Ty Gangi earned State Player of the Week honors, along with accolades from the Southern California Football Association while kicker Jake Lanski earned SCFA Player of the Week honors.

Pirates Retain Citrus Cup in Record-Setting Victory

Rivalry games are always interesting, as was the case Saturday night in the 48th edition of the Citrus Cup game at Moorpark College. The Raiders sandwiched a 21-7 run around halftime to tie the score at 29-29 before quarterback Ty Gangi threw touchdown passes on three consecutive possessions to lead Ventura to a 60-36 victory.

FB Falls to Cerritos After Rough First Half

The Pirates found paydirt on their first play from scrimmage to even the score at 7-7, then yielded another four touchdowns to visiting Cerritos in a rough first half en route to a 44-28 loss to the Falcons Saturday night at the VC Sportsplex. It was too little, too late for Ventura in the second half as they were unable to close the gap in the Northern Conference opener for both teams.

VC freshman wide receiver Nick Rodriguez had another solid night with 10 catches for 155 yards, buth costly turnovers doomed the Pirates in their 52-28 loss at Mt. SAC on Saturday night.
Mistakes Pile Up in Pirate Loss at Mt. San Antonio

Often times in football the team that makes the fewest mistakes prevails. That was very evident Saturday as the Ventura College football team had five turnovers, some at crucial moments, in their 52-28 loss at defending state champion Mt. San Antonio College. Quarterback Brandon Jones threw for 266 yards, and running back Chris Beeson ran for 69 yards, but the mistakes sent the Pirates to their first loss of the season.
