Pirate quarterback Ty Gangi was named the Southern California Football Association Northern Conference All-Purpose Player of the Week for his performance in VC's 54-48 win at Canyons Saturday.
Gangi, a freshman from St. Francis High School in the Glendale area, completed 35 of 54 passes for 439 yards, with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He also had eight rushes for 51 yards and a rushing touchdown giving him 490 yards of all purpose offense and five scores. He led VC to victory over previously undefeated Canyons, keeping the Pirates in the running for a repeat conference title.
