The VC men's and women's track and field teams qualified a number of athletes for the 3C2A Southern California Preliminaries at the Western State Conference Championships Friday at Moorpark. Brianna Richards was the top qualifier for the Pirate women finishing second in the 800m run while the men's 4x400m relay team of Ty Brown, Luke Carnaghe, Jeremiah Penny and Ja'Varien Salter also ran second. The VC men were sixth place overall in the conference standings while he women finished eighth.
The Ventura College men's and women's track and field teams qualified several individuals for the Western State Conference Championships Friday at the WSC Prelims held at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita. Ja'Varien Salter qualified with the fastest time in the 200m and was second in the 100m qualifying while Brianna Richards was second in the 800m and also moved forward in the 1500m. Mateo Chavez and Alyna Renteria qualified for the Southern California Prelims in finals events in the shot put and discus, respectively.
