Pirate Softball Splits Twin Bill at No. 7 San Diego Mesa

Fresh off of clinching the Western State Conference title, the Pirate softball team began a playoff tune-up road trip with a double-header split at No. 7-ranked San Diego Mesa. VC dropped a heartbreaking 5-4 decision in the opener before defeating the Olympians 12-9 in the nightcap. Jayla Raya recorded five hits with four runs batted in and a run scored in the two games to lead the way.

Erika Sanchez had a pair of hits, including a key triple, with three runs batted in and a run scored while Baylani Magana recorded two hits with a pair of runs scored.

The host Rustlers used a decisive four-run first inning and held off a late Ventura push over the final two innings. Softball Opens Season at Mt. SAC

The VC softball team opened their 2026 campaign Friday and Saturday at Mt. San Antonio, battling Fullerton and Los Angeles Mission to 4-3 and 4-0 setbakcs on opening day, respectively, before falling to the host Mounties Saturday. Erika Sanchez totaled five hits and three runs batted in for the Pirates over the three games and Baylany Magana scored three runs.
