VC freshman Matthew Thomas shot a 36-hole total of 150, 6-over par, at the CCCAA State Golf Championships in Kingsburg Monday.  His score was good for a tie for 24th place of the 60 participants.
Thomas Comes in Strong at State Golf Championships

After firing a 5-over 77 in the opening round of the CCCAA State Golf Championship, Pirate freshman Matthew Thomas came on strong in the afternoon round, carding a 1-over 73 for an overall score of 150, good for a tie for 24th place in the 60-player field at Kings River Country Club in Kingsburg.

Matthew Thomas posted a 2-under 67-75, 142 at Monday's SoCal Regional Golf Championships at Olivas Links Golf Course.  His score qualified him for next week's CCCAA State Championships in Kingsburg.
Thomas Qualifies for State Golf, Pirates 8th at Regionals

Sophomore Matthew Thomas saved his best for last, shooting a 2-under par 67-75, 142 to qualify for the CCCAA State Golf Championships next week at Kings River Country Club in Fresno County. As a team, VC posted a 379-388, 767 to place eighth at the SoCal Regionals at Olivas Links Golf Course Monday.

VC freshman Emil Ozeke shot a 73-73, 146 to earn all-conference honors, leading Ventura to a third place finish in the Western State Conference Championships Monday.  The Pirates qualified as a team for next week's CCCAA SoCal Regionals.
Pirate Golf Qualifies for CCCAA SoCal Regionals

With their third place finish at the 36-hole Western State Conference Championships, the Ventura College golf team qualified for the CCCAA SoCal Regional Tournament. The Pirates, needing to finish third to gain the team berth to the regionals, put together team scores of 377-372, 749, tow of their top four round of the season.

Golf Posts Low Score of Year, Third Place at WSC Event

In the final regular match of the year, the Ventura College men's golf team placed third at the Western State Conference neutral site event at Olivas Links Golf Course Monday in Ventura, the site of next month's CCCAA SoCal Regionals. VC posted a season-best team score of 371, led by Patrick Holden and Remy Smaby, who both shot a 1-over par 73.

Sophomore Matthew Thomas led Ventura with a 5-over par 77 at the WSC event hosted by Glendale College Monday.  The Pirates shot a team score of 408 for sixth place overall.
Golf Finished Sixth at WSC-Glendale at Oakmont Country Club

The Pirate golf team turned in a team score of 408 Monday to take sixth place at the Western State Conference event hosted by Glendale College at Oakmont Country Club. First place Canyons won the event with a 381 followed by Glendale with 384. Matthew Thomas was the low man for VC, posting a 5-over 77.

VC sophomore Greg Brown shot a 2-over 74 to lead the Pirates at the WSC event hosted by Glendale College.  Ventura finished fifth with a team score of 390.
Pirates Fall Back at WSC-Citrus Event

The Pirates golf team fell back to fifth place this week at the Western State Conference event at the par-72 San Dimas Canyon Golf Club Monday, shooting right on their season average of 390 as a team. Greg Brown carded a 2-over 74 to lead VC, who remains in third place in the conference standings through seven events.

Holden's 1-under leads VC to Third at WSC-Allan Hancock

Led by Patrick Holden's best round of the year, a 1-under par 71, propelled the Ventura College giolf team toa third place finish at the Western State Conference event hosted by Allan Hancock College at Santa Maria Country Club Monday. VC carded a team score of 382, behind Canyons (368) and Santa Barbara (369).

Sophomore Remy Smaby was the low man for Ventura with a 4-over 76 at the WSC event at Antelope Valley Country Club Monday.
Golfers Middle of the Pack at WSC-Antelope Valley

Golf is a funny game. One day you can be great, the next, not so much. After two solid weeks in row, the VC men's golf team fell back Monday at the Western State Conference event at Antelope Valley Country Club, carding a 399, their second-highest score of the year. But that was still good for fourth place in the eight-team event. Remy Smaby was VC's low man with a 4-over par 76.

VC Posts Solid Scoe in SoCal Preview at Olivas Links

Playing in the Ventura area for the second straight week, the Pirate golf team posted their second-best score of the season, behind last week's home tournament, shooting a 378 in the SoCal Preview at Olivas Links Golf Course. Ventrua placed seventh of 18 teams in the non-conference event. Individually, VC had two players post red numbers as Emil Ozeke had his second-straight 1-under 71 and Alex Hood matched that score.

VC Third at WSC Event at River Ridge

Emil Ozeke fired a 1-under par 71 Monday on the Victoria Lakes course at River Ridge Golf Course to lead Ventura to a third place finish in this week's Western State Conference event hosted by the Pirates. VC posted a team score of 375, just six strokes off of Santa Barbara's 369 and five behind Canyons at 370.

Alex Hood shot 78-82, 160 for Ventura at the two-day Santa Barbara Invitational on Sunday and Monday.  VC finished 10th in the 14-team event.
Pirate Golfers Improve On Second Day of SB Invite

The Ventura College men's golf team played better on the second day of the two-day Santa Barbara Invitational to place 10th overall of the 14 competing teams Sunday and Monday. VC was in 11th place following Sunday's rain and wind soaked round at Marshallia Ranch Golf Course, but improved 20 shots on Monday at La Purisma Golf Course to finish fifth for the day and 10th for the tournament.

Golfers Regain Swing to Finish Third at WSC-Bakersfield

The Ventura College golf team regained their form Monday to finish third of eight teams at the Western State Conference event hosted by Bakersfield at the par-72 Rio Bravo Country Club. The Pirates posted a team score of 394, finishing behind Canyons (386) and Santa Barbara (388). Matthew Thomas and Remy Smaby went low for Ventura, each carding a 3-over 75.

Golfers Finish Fifth at MSJC Invitational

The Pirate golf team rebounded from a rough outing Monday to place fifth at the Eagle Golf Classic hosted by Mt. San Jacinto College on Wednesday at the par-72 Soboba Springs Country Club. Orange Coast claimed the 16-team event with a team score of 359 and Riverside placed second at 361. The Pirates posted a team score of 378.

Pirate Golf Struggles at WSC-Santa Barbara

After a solid start to the conference season a week ago, the Pirate golf team placed seventh Monday at the WSC event hosted by Santa Barbara City College at Alisal Ranch Country Club. Greg Brown led VC with a 6-over par 78.

Remy Smaby led VC with a 2-over 74 at the first Western State Conference event of the season Monday in Valencia.
Golfers Finish Third in WSC Opener at Canyons

The Pirate golf team placed third at the initial Western State Conference event Monday at Valencia Country Club hosted by College of the Canyons. VC posted a team score of 388, finishing behind the host Cougars with 373 and two strokes behind Santa Barbara at 386.

The Pirate golf team finished fifth of 10 teams at the Victor Valley Invitational Monday at Spring Valley Lake Country Club in Victorville. Riverside won the event with a score of 191 in the best-ball event while VC posted a 209.
