Women's Tennis Season Ends on Day 1 of The Ojai

The VC women's tennis team had its season come to an end Thursday on the first day of the 3C2A State Championships at The Ojai Tournament. Kira Branson led the way for the Pirates with a win in the singles draw and a win in doubles with Chandra Padua before bowing out in the second round of play in each draw. Dulce Contreras and Isabella DeRosa, along with Shery Bonilla and Ella Morgan also competed in the state championships.

VC sophomore Dulce Contreras narrowly fell in her No. 2 doubles match with Isabella DeRosa and was ahead in her No. 3 singles contest when VC fell to Orange Coast 5-1 Tuesday in the first Round of the 3C2A SoCal Playoffs in Costa Mesa.
VC Women Fall in Playoff Opener

The Ventura College women's tennis team battled but came up short Tuesday, dropping their 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoff match at Orange Coast, 5-1. Sherry Bonilla and Ella Morgan recorded the lone point for VC (8-9) with a win in No. 3 doubles. Dulce Contreras and Morgan were also ahead a set in Nos. 3 and 6 singles when OCC clinched the victory.

Branson, Three Doubles Teams Headed to State

Ventura's Kira Branson has qualified for the 3C2A State Championships in singles play while Branson and Chandra Padua, Dulce Contreras and Isabella DeRosa, along with Sherry Bonilla and Ella Morgan have qualified in doubles through play at the Western State Conference Championships Thursday-Saturday, April 2-4 at the VC Tennis Center.

Pirate Women Compete on Opening Day of WSC Tourney

The VC women's tennis team has five players still alive for state tournament berths after first and second round play in singles competition at the Western State Conference Championships Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. Chandra Padua, Dulce Contreras, Isabella DeRosa and Ella Morgan were all winners in the opening round before falling to the back draw in the Round of 32. Kira Branson received a first round bye in the draw and her second round match was suspended Tuesday due to weather.

Ventura Drops Close Contest at Canyons

For the second time this season, the Pirates' women's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision against College of the Canyons. After falling behind in doubles, the Pirates battled back to even the match before falling. Sherry Bonilla and Ella Morgan led the effort with a win in No. 2 doubles while Isabella DeRosa produced a victory in No. 4 singles to begin the VC comeback bid.

VC Women Blank Antelope Valley, 9-0

The Pirates' women's tennis team blanked Antelope Valley 9-0 Thursday in the High Desert. Dulce Contreras was one of a number of double-winners on the day for VC, winning in No. 1 doubles with Chandra Padua and also claiming victory in No. 2 singles. Padua, Isabella DeRosa, Isabella Avila and Ella Morgan also won in singles and doubles against the Marauders.

Women's Tennis Falls to LA Mission

The VC women's tennis team hosted Los Angeles Mission Thursday, falling to the Western State Conference frontrunners, 8-1. Ella Morgan earned the Pirates' lone point of the day with a three-set win in No. 6 singles.

Pirate Women Rebound With Win at Santa Monica

The VC women's tennis team bounced back Tuesday with a 6-3 win at Santa Monica. The Pirates had dropped their last three Western State Conference matches, two by 5-4 counts, before defeating the Corsairs. Kira Branson and Chandra Padua picked up a big doubles victory while Dulce Contreras and Isabella DeRosa were both double winners for VC.

Women's Tennis Falls at Santa Barbara

The VC women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 Western State Conference decision Monday in a make-up date from last month. Isabella DeRosa managed the lone point for the Pirates and Kira Branson fought to a 3-set defeat in singles play.

The VC women's tennis team went on the road Friday and swept Mt. San Antonio on the Mounties home court, 9-0. The Pirates had eight different players comtribute to the win, including Adrianna Padilla, who won in No. 2 doubles with Isabella Avila.

The Ventura College women's tennis team captured a Western State Conference victory at Bakersfield Tuesday, defeating the defending state runners-up 6-3.Dulce Contreras and Isabella DeRosa earned a combined three points toward the win, together in No. 2 doubles and individually in Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively.
