Women's Tennis Season Ends on Day 1 of The Ojai
The VC women's tennis team had its season come to an end Thursday on the first day of the 3C2A State Championships at The Ojai Tournament. Kira Branson led the way for the Pirates with a win in the singles draw and a win in doubles with Chandra Padua before bowing out in the second round of play in each draw. Dulce Contreras and Isabella DeRosa, along with Shery Bonilla and Ella Morgan also competed in the state championships.

Dulce Contreras and Isabella DeRosa, along with Sherry Bonilla and Ella Morgan also competed in the state championships.
Branson opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win over her opponent from Riverside. In the Round of 64, Branson had her tournament come to an end with a 6-1, 6-0 setback against a player from Chabot College.
In doubles play, Branson and Padua won their first match love and love against a team from Shasta before being eliminated by a duo from Orange Coast, 6-2, 6-0.
Contreras and DeRosa received a first round bye in the draw, moving to the Round of 64 where they fell to a team from Sierra, 6-0, 6-3.
Meanwhile, Bonilla and Morgan fought hard but were defeated in the opening round, 6-4, 7-5 by a pair from San Francisco.
The Pirates end their season at the 3C2A State Championships. Looking back it wa a successful campaign with multiple state tournament qualifiers and their third appearance in the team regional playoffs in the past four seasons.
