Women's Soccer Blanks Oxnard
The VC women's soccer team traveled across the Santa Clara River Friday and came home with a 4-0 victory over rival Oxnard.Valeria Lopez, Jennifer Ramirez, Samantha Quinonez and Viviana Marmolejo all netted goals in the rout while Janessah Gonzalez had a pair of saves in goal for the shutout win.

The VC women's soccer team traveled across the Santa Clara River Friday and came home with a 4-0 victory over rival Oxnard. Valeria Lopez , Jennifer Ramirez, Samantha Quinonez and Viviana Marmolejo all netted goals in the rout while Janessah Gonzalez had a pair of saves in goal for the shutout win.
Lopez got the rout started with a goal in the 10th minute, cashing in on a beautiful cross from Yaraby Herrera. Ramirez made it 2-0 when she took a Monse Hernandez pass and found the back of the net. Quinonez scored an unassisted goal to lead the Pirates to a 3-0 halftime lead.
The Pirates ended the period with nine shots total, six on target.
Marmolejo closed the scoring for Ventura (6-6-3, 3-2-1) with a goal in the 75th minute with help from Isabella Hurtado.
VC had 16 shots total, eight on goal, while the Condors only managed six shots, two on frame.
Lopez and midfielder Klarissa Melgoza were named Players of the Game.
The Pirates will next host Moorpark on Tuesday Oct. 21 at 6:30 pm.
