Men's Polo claims season-opening victory
The VC men's water polo claimed victory in the 2025 season opener, 18-12 over Crafton Hills at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Owen Patterson led a balanced attack with four goals and an assist while Evan Augusta tallied three scores. Goalie Ethan Ortiz had six saves in the cage and handed out a pair of assists in the victory for Ventura (1-0).

Thomas Shea scored twice in the opening quarter as the Pirates and Roadrunners were tied 4-4.
Seven different Pirates scored in the second period, with Patterson netting two goals, and VC broke away from CHC to hold a 12-7 halftime advantage.
Augusta found the inside of the cage twice just after intermission and the Pirates expanded their lead to 16-8 with eight minutes remaining in the game.
Patterson and Wyatt Dingman wrapped up the Ventura offense in the 18-12 triumph.
Shea, Dingman, Nico Rosado and Jacob Otsuki all scored twice in the game for the Pirates. Meanwhile, Patterson, Dingman, Brayden Black, Milos Djanic and Daniel Vadas all grabbed two steals each defensively.
The Pirates next travel to Cypress on Friday and Saturday Sept. 5 and 6 to battle in the Cypress Tournament.
