The Western State Conference champion Ventura College men's water polo team swept the conference's post-season awards following their first WSC title in 16 seasons. Owen Patterson was named the WSC Most Valuable Player while Evan Augusta, Boaz Biglin, Bryce Biglin and Wyatt Dingman all earned first-team all-conference honors. VC head coach Mike Arteaga was named the WSC Coach of the Year for the 2025 season.
The Ventura College men's water polo team extended their first post-season appearance in 12 years Thursday with a 10-4 victory over Saddleback in the first round of the 3C2A Southern California Regionals at Southwestern College in Chula Vista. Owen Patterson netted three goals while Daniel Vadas scored twice with two assists and six steals to lead the effort for the No. 7-seeded Pirates (22-12). Milos Djanic also scored twice for Ventura agsinst the No. 10-seeded Bobcats.
Pirate sophomore Owen Patterson scored 10 goals over four games Friday and Saturday, leading the VC men's water polo team to three victories at the Día de los Muertos Tournament at Southwestern College in Chula Vista. Daniel Vadas netted nine scores and Patrik Bötkös drew 16 ejections over the weekend as Ventura defeated State No. 8 Saddleback for the third time this season and No. 10 Mt. San Antonio for the second time in 2025.
The VC men's water polo team dropped a first place showdown at Cuesta Wednesday. The No. 8-ranked Pirates fell behind early to the No. 10 Cougars and could not recover in the 19-12 decision. Ravi Moolenaar scored three times and Daniel Vadas had a pair of gaols with three steals to lead the effort. Wyatt Dingman and Boaz Biglin each scored once and handed out two assists.
The Priates' men's water polo team had a big weekend in the Bay Area Friday and Saturday, winning three of four games at the Bruce Watson Invitational at West Valley College in Saratoga. The triumphs were highlighted by a 1-14 victory Saturday against state No. 4-ranked Mt. San Antonio. Owen Patterson led the offensive charge with 26 goals in the four games and Bryce Biglin recorded a staggering 59 saves in the cage on the weekend.
The Ventura College men's water polo team split four games Friday and Saturday in Huntington Beach at the Golden West Tournament. VC dropped a battle of Pirates, falling to Orange Coast Friday before coming back to defeat Saddleback. Saturday the Pirates ran away from Southwestern and dropped a heartbreaker against Cerritos. Patrik Bötkös had seven goals and drew 14 ejections in the four games.
The VC men's water polo claimed victory in the 2025 season opener, 18-12 over Crafton Hills at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Owen Patterson led a balanced attack with four goals and an assist while Evan Augusta tallied three scores. Goalie Ethan Ortiz had six saves in the cage and handed out a pair of assists in the victory for Ventura (1-0).
