The Pirates' men's water polo team left the Día de los Muertos Tournament in Chula Vista witha pair of wins Saturday, defeating San Digeo Miramar 18-4 before outlasting San Diego Mesa 12-10 in the finale. Owen Patterson again led VC (12-11, 2-2) with seven goals on the day while Evan Augusta and Brayden Black each netted five in the two games. Ethan Ortiz totaled eight saves in the cage.

VC fell to Palomar 13-9 in the opener before dropping a 22-13 decision against Grossmont in the nightcap. Owen Patterson scored five goals and drew three exclusions to lead VC (10-9, 2-2) and Brayden Black netted four scores. Thomas Shea and Evan Augusta each scored twice in the game while Ethan Ortiz and Stephen McNaughten recorded seven and five saves in goal, respectively.
