Pirates outlast Eagles in four-set thriller
The VC volleyball team concluded their two-day road trip with an exciting four-set victory at Mt. San Jacinto College Saturday afternoon. Shai Daniels led a trio of double-doub les, posting 12 kills and 19 digs while Josephine Rausch had 14 kills and 10 digs. Monaye Ramessar added in 22 assists and 10 digs fo her own In-N-Out special.

Shai Daniels led a trio of double-doubles, posting 12 kills and 19 digs while Josephine Rausch had 14 kills and 10 digs. Monaye Ramessar added in 22 assists and 10 digs for her own In-N-Out special. Callie Cahill also recorded 10 kills offensively.
The Pirate and Eagles went to extra points in each of the first two sets, 30-28 and 28-26, both VC wins, before MSJC captured the third 25-19. Ventura finally wore down their opponents in the fourth and deciding set, 25-12.
Taylor Lane and Daphne Raymond led the defensive effort at the net with a role in eight and seven blocks, respectively. Raush contributed to three blocks as Ventura (2-0) outblocked MSJC 13-0.
Sadie Lishman was solid on defense with 17 digs and Valeria Ibarra recorded six defensively and handed out 18 assists on offense with a pair of service aces. Beira Boyso hit winners with three aces and Rausch completed her all-around play with a pair of service winners.
Ventura will next travel to Pasadena on Wednesday Aug. 27 before hosting Orange Coast on Friday Aug. 29 in the home opener.
