Spikers With Strong Effort Against Santa Barbara
The Ventura College volleyball team gave a strong effort Friday night before falling in three sets to visiting Santa Barbara City College 25-18, 25-23, 25-22.. VC held leads late in the final two sets before falling to the Vaqueros who are ranked No. 6 in the state. Taylor Benitez-Fanslow led Ventura (9-9, 0-2) with 12 kills and 25 digs. Braxton Jessie also had 12 kills with 14 digs.

VC held leads late in the final two sets before falling to the Vaqueros who are ranked No. 6 in the state. Taylor Benitez-Fanslow led Ventura (9-9, 0-2) with 12 kills and 25 digs. Braxton Jessie also had 12 kills with 14 digs.
Caryssa Castrejon had six kills and 11 digs in the match while Danielle Garcia handed out 26 assists. Jordan Neria had 10 digs for the Pirates.
VC will next host Moorpark on Friday Oct. 20. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 pm at the Athletic Event Center.
