VC Women Earn Academic Honors from the ITA

The Pirates' women's tennis team has again earned distinction as an All-Academic Team as honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association while all eight team members were named Junior College Women's Scholar Athletes by the ITA as released last week. The Pirates posted a 3.76 overall grade point average in the spring 2022 semester to be one of 14 teams, one of eight from California, to be recognized nationally.

Ventura's Hanna Dever fell one victory short of advancing to the CCCAA State Championships in both singles and doubles Friday and Saturday at Cypress College. She produced one victory in singles play before bowing out of the draw, and also teamed up with Victoria Zegers in doubles to pull out a win before falling one step short of state.
Women's Tennis Ends Season at SoCal Regionals

The Pirates' women's tennis team had their 2022 season come to an end on Saturday at the Southern California Regionals at Cypress College. VC's doubles team of Hanna Dever and Victoria Zegers dropped their match against a duo from Grossmont to close the season one victory shy of a berth in the CCCAA State Championships. Dever also fell one win short in singles play on Friday.

McClain and Nguyen Advance to WSC Doubles Semifinals

Ventura's doubled team of Alyssa McClain and Elizabeth Nguyen advanced to the semifinals of the Western State Conference Women's Doubles Tournament on Saturday. The pair will continue play on Friday April 8 at 1:00 pm in their attempt to move into the conference championship.

VC's Hanna Dever advanced to the quarterfinals of the WSC women's singles tournament Friday with a pair of wins.  She also qualified for the Southern California Regionals to be played April 29-30.
Dever Qualifies For SoCal's in Singles

Ventura College No. 1 singles player Hanna Dever prevailed in a pair of matches Friday to advance to the Western State Conference women's singles quarterfinals on Saturday. She also qualified to compete in the Southern California Regional Championships to be held April 29-30 at Cypress College.

VC's second-year freshman Victoria Zegers advanced to the round of 32 in singles and paired with Hanna Dever to move into the quarterfinals in doubles at the Western State Conference Championships Thursday at the VC Tennis Center.
Women's Tennis Begins Play in WSC Championships

Members of the Ventrua College women's tennis team opened play in the Western State Conference Singles and Doubles Championships Thursday at the VC Tennis Center. Victoria Zegers led a host of Pirates moving into the round of 32 in singles play, and she teamed up with Hanna Dever to move into the quarterfinals of the doubles draw. Alyssa McClain and Elizabeth Nguyen also produced a pair of wins in doubles to move into the round of eight.

VC Falls in Final Match of Women's Tennis Team Season

The VC women's tennis team fell in its final team match of the 2022 season 9-0 at Orange Coast Friday in Costa Mesa. The shorthanded Ventura team, which did not field No. 3 doubles or No. 6 singles competitors, still gave a strong effort despite the final result.

VC sophomore Tanya Thompson had a come-from-behind three-set win in No. 5 singles to clinch the Pirates' 5-4 win at Antelope Valley on Tuesday.
Women's Tennis Closes WSC Schedule With Victory

The VC women's tennis team closed their conference schedule Tuesday with a 5-4 victory at Antelope Valley College. Tanya Thompson provided the match-clinching point with a come-from-behind victory in No. 5 singles after teaming up with Elizabeth Nguyen to win a narrow decision in No. 2 doubles. Nguyen and Alyssa McClain were also double-winners on the day.

VC's Elizabeth Nguyen was a double winner Tuesday at Canyons, claiming her No. 3 doubles match with partner Alyssa McClain and prevailing in No. 4 singles. The Pirates dropped a narrow 5-4 decision to the Cougars.
VC Defeated in 5-4 Decision at Canyons

The VC women's tennis team continues to show signs of improvement, but dropped a close 5-4 decision at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita Tuesday. Elizabeth Nguyen and Alyssa McClain were each double winners on the day for the Pirates (4-5, 3-5).

Ventura sophomore Tanya Thompson won two points on Tuesday, teaming up with Iskra Volic to win in No. 2 doubles, then posting a victory in No. 5 singles as the Pirates defeated Antelope Valley 6-3 at the VC Tennis Center.
VC Doubles Marauders in 6-3 Win

On a cool and blustery day the Ventura College women's tennis team battled through the elements to double-up visiting Antelope Valley 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center. Tanya Thompson and Iskra Volic partnered to win their doubles match, and also won their respective singles contests, producing four of the Pirates' six points in the triumph.

Victoria Zegers won her No. 2 singles match Tuesday but the Pirates fell at Los Angeles Mission College 6-3.
Women's Tennis Falls at LA Mission

The VC women's tennis team traveled to San Fernando on Tuesday, dropping a 6-3 decision to Los Angeles Mission College. The doubles team of Elizabeth Nguyen and Tanya Thompson earned a point while Victoria Zegers and Nguyen each earned points in singles play for the Pirates (2-3, 1-3).

VC freshman Elizabeth Nguyen won her No. 4 singles match 7-6 (7-1), 6-2, but the Pirates dropped their home match against College of the Canyons 6-3 Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center.

The VC women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to visiting College of the Canyons Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. Alyssa McClain was a double winner, winning her No. 6 singles match and teaming up with Dee Emami to claim the No. 3 doubles match. Elizabeth Nguyen won her No. 4 singles match for the third point for the Pirates (1-2, 0-2).
