Late Score Ends Pirate Soccer Season in Playoffs
The VC women's soccer team played a hard-fought playoff contest at Southwestern College in Chula Vista Wednesday, battling the Jaguars to a scoreless tie for 85 minutes before the hosts scored a late goal for the 1-0 win. Pirate goalkeeper Janessah Gonzalez recorded four saves in goal to keep the Pirates close throughout the contest.

Pirate goalkeeper Janessah Gonzalez recorded four saves in goal to keep the Pirates close throughout the contest.
The games was physical from the onset, with the teams battling to a 0-0 ties i the first half. VC totaled four shots in he first 45 minutes of play, two on goal,while Southwestern had five shots, three on target.
The second half continued in the same fashion with neither team being able to gain the upper hand. In the 85th minute, the Jaguars had a corner kick that the Pirates were unable to clear. SWC found the inside of the net and were able to hold off Ventura to earn the win.
VC finished with seven total shots, five on goal, while Southwestern had 10 shots, five on target.
Ventura ends the year with a record of 9-7-6. They finished in a second-place tie in the Western State Conference North Division with a 6-2-4 record and qualified for the post-season for the 28th time in 29 seasons.
