Soccer Makes in three in-a-row and five of six
The VC women's soccer captured their third straight win and their fifth positive result in six games with a 2-0 shutout of visiting Cuesta Friday. Cristal Vargas and Jazzy Moreno each scored goals and Alondra Snachez again anchored the defensive effort in the Western Satte Conference triumph.

The VC women's soccer captured their third straight win and their fifth positive result in six games with a 2-0 shutout of visiting Cuesta Friday. Cristal Vargas and Jazzy Moreno each scored goals and Alondra Sanchez again anchored the defensive effort in the Western State Conference triumph.
The Pirates (5-4-2, 2-0) controlled much of the first half, limiting Cuesta to a single shot. VC took five shots offensively in the first 45 minutes of play, three of which were on goal.
Vargas broke through in the 54th minute to give Ventura the 1-0 lead. Klarissa Melgoza picked up the assist with a nice open slotted pass to the back side of the Cougar defense leading to the score.
Moreno put the game away in the 79th minute, connecting on a penalty kick to set the final margin.
The Pirates produced 13 shots in the game, seven on target, while the Cougars had a single shot.
Ventura next travels to Allan Hancock on Tuesday Oct. 7. Kickoff in Santa Maria is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
