Women's Soccer Ends Season at Pasadena

The VC women's soccer team had a tall order to complete in its playoff game Tuesday afternoon at Pasadena. The No. 15-seeded Pirates received a gift goal in the opening minute of play, but could muster nothing else as the No. 2-seeded Lancers scored twice in rapid succession just before halftime and received a third goal late in VC's 3-1 playoff loss. The setback ended Ventura's season with a solid 16-4-4 record in their 27th post-season appearance in 28 seasons.

On a wet pitch, the Pirate soccer team persevered through a hard fought first half and scored three goals in the second to defeat San Diego Mesa 3-0 in the opening round of the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs Saturday at the VC Sportsplex. Daisy Vaca scored twice and added an assist as No. 7-seeded Ventura (16-3-4) advances in the post-season bracket.

Pirates Blank Hancock, Run Winning Streak to Eight

The Pirates' women's soccer team continued its strong play Friday with a 2-0 victory over Allan Hancock College . Melanie Torres and Samantha Quinonez each scored goals as VC hosted a number of youth teams on AYSO night at the Sportsplex. Leslie Torres and Daisy Vaca also turned in solid outings for Ventura (9-1-3, 3-0) who stretched their winning streak to eight games.

Offensive Explosion Fuels Pirates at Cuesta

The VC women's soccer team experienced an offensive explosion Tuesday at Cuesta, defeating the Cougars 9-0. Eight different players scored with Janessah Gonzales netting a pair of goals in the second half. Samantha Quinonez handed out a pair of assists for Ventura (8-1-3, 2-0) while Emily Ramirez took a pair of corner kicks that resulted in Pirate scores. The offensive output was the highest since VC defeated Hancock 9-1 in 2018.

Women's Soccer Blanks Moorpark to Begin WSC Play

The VC women's soccer team had another stellar defensive effort, posting their fifth shutout in the last six games in the 1-0 decision over Moorpark to open Western State conference play Tuesday at the Sportsplex. Lex Sahagian scored in the 63rd minute, her seventh goal in the past eight games, to provide the difference. The Pirates (7-1-3) remain unbeaten in their past eight contests.

Women's Soccer Blanks AVC, Runs Unbeaten Streak to Seven

The Pirates' women's soccer team shut out visiting Antelope Valley 3-0 Tuesday night at the VC Sportsplex. Ventura (6-1-3) received goals from Daisy Vaca, Lex Sahagian and Valeria Lopez while Sibella Donnelly spent a majority of the game in goal with relief from Janessah Gonzalez, The victory is the fifth straight for the Pirates, and their seventh gstraight game without a defeat.

The Pirates' women's soccer team posted another 2-0 shutout victory Friday at El Camino College in Torrance. Leslie Torres scored off a corner kick in the 14th minute and Yaraby Herrera netted her fourth goal of the season late to seal the result. It was the second straight 2-0 fixture for Ventura (3-1-3) this week.

Sophomore defender Emily Ramirez (18) played a strong game Tuesday in VC's 2-0 shutout victory over Rio Hondo, including an assist on the Pirates' first goal of the night in the 12th minute of play.

Lex Sahagian netted a goal in the 12th minute Tuesday night against Rio Hondo, and Yaraby Herrera scored in the 47th to propel the VC women's soccer team toa 2-0 victory over visiting Rio Hondo at the Sportsplex. Goalkeeper Janessah Gonzales had a pair of saves in recording the shutout while Daisy Vaca and Emily Gonzalez had solid games in the midfield disrupting the Roadrunner attack.

Women's Soccer Falls to Hartnell in Defensive Battle

The VC women's soccer team was locked in a defensive battle Saturday afternoon against Hartnell in the finale of the New Balance Community College Showcase at the Sportsplex. Unfortunately, the Panthers managed to score one goal to defeat the Pirates, 1-0. Ventura's back line of Daisy Vaca, Jillian Smith, Desire Lopez and Jessica Aguilar all had solid efforts in front of goal keeper Sibella Donnelly in a scoreless first half.

Aguilar's Late Goal Saves Draw for Pirates

Jessica Aguilar and the Pirate offense had trouble finding the ball in space Thursday night against San Francisco in the New Balance Community College Showcase at the Sportsplex. The Rams stymied the Pirates for over 90 minutes of play before Aguilar, in a desperation play, moved a lob shot forward in traffic from 25 yards out, over the CCSF goalie's head and into the goal for a 1-1 draw.
