Riannah Lopez assisted a score by Nichols on the opening possession of the game for an early Pirate advantage, and Salgado's bucket kept it close at 11-10 for the Mounties with 6:10 left in the first quarter. Mt. SAC went on a tear from that point, unfortunately, scoring the next 17 points before Decierdo ended the period with a made free throw for the 28-17 VC deficit.
The Mounties continued to push the ball in the second quarter, holding a 45-20 margin at intermission.
Ventura began to get untracked after halftime, with Lumas scoring six of the Pirates 15 points in the quarter.
It was just too much Mt. SAC in the end, however, as VC fell 91-46.
The Pirates get a quick chance to right the ship, taking on San Francisco on Friday Dec. 11 at 1:00 pm at LA Valley.
