VC Track & Field Sending Four to State

The Ventura College men's and women's track and field teams are sending four athletes to the 3C2A State Championships next week after competition at the Southern California Regionals Friday at Cerritos. Sophia Godina and Brianna Torres will be traveling to Saddleback on May 17-18 to represent the Pirate women while Trevor McCarthy and Erick Tienda will compete for the men at state.

Pirate sophomore Sophia Godina claimed gold in the 1500m run at the Western State Conference Championships Friday in Bakersfield and placed second in the 800m and won bronze in the 5k.
VC Track & Field Places 3rd/4th at WSC Finals

The Ventura College women's and men's track and field team placed third and fourth, respectively in the Western State Conference Championships that concluded Friday in Bakersfield. Sophia Godina continued her strong season winning the 1500m and placing in the 800m and 5000m to lead the Pirate women and Cassandra O'Reilly claimed gold in the shot put. Erick Tienda paced the men with a 1500m win and by earning points in the 800m and 5k events.

VC Track & Field Has Strong Day at WSC Prelims

VC's men's and women's track and field teams had a strong day Friday at the Western State Conference Prelims at Antelope Valley College. Brianna Torres captured gold in the women's 10k final and Trevor McCarthy won the men's javelin final to lead Ventura in the competition. Numerous other Pirates turned in strong performances to qualify for the WSC Finals coming up April 26.

Praite Track Battles Elements at Cerritos and Azusa Pacific

The Pirates' men's and women's track and field teams split their time Friday, with most competing at the Cerritos Invitational while a handful traveled to the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University. VC performances were highlighted by Carlos Oregel in the 3000m steeplechase at Cerritos while Erick Tienda and Sophia Godina produced top times in the 1500m races at APU.

VC Women 1st, Men 2nd at WSC Coastal Meet

On a Chamber of Commerce day in Ventura, the Pirates' track and field teams hosted the Western State Conference Coastal meet Friday with the women claiming first place of the six competing teams and the men coming in second. Sofia Godina led the women wit hthree gold medal performances while Erick Tienda set a new school record in the 300m run.

Ventura College Pirates Shine at Oxy Invitational

The Pirates' men's and women's track and field teams had some exceptional performances  Saturday at the Oxy Invitational hosted by Occidental College in Eagle Rock. Erick Tienda's performance in the 800m highlighted the efforts by the men's team while Sophia Godina continued her dominance in the 5k run. VC's men's 4x100m relay team of Micah Contreras, Trevor McCarthy, Andrew Stuart and Thomas Dore also had a strong showing winning their event.

VC freshman Charys Pyle won first in the 100m hurdles and claimed third in the 400m hurdles to help the Pirate women to a first place finish in the WSC North Meet at Cuesta Friday. The Ventrua men also won first in the six-team conference contest.
Pirates M & W Track & Field Both Win WSC North Meet

In a display of talent and teamwork, the VC men's and women's track and field teams  emerged victorious at the Western State Conference North Meet in San Luis Obispo. Sophia Godina claimed gold in three individual events while Charys Pyle, Brooke Pyle and Cassandra O'Reilly also posted individual victories. Erick Tienda and Thomas Dore were triple winners to lead the Pirate men. Micah Contreras  and Trevor McCarthy also had gold medal performances for Ventura.
