All it took was a little home cooking, hosted by another team. The Pirates' golf team claimed their first victory of the season in Western State Conference play Monday at the event hosted by College of the Canyons at Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventrua. AJ Ryland shot a 2-over 74 to tie for second individually in leading VC to victory. Nathan Long recorded a 5-over 78 to tie for sixth and Zack Garboski carded a 79, tying for 12th. Ventura posted a team score of 390, two shots ahead of previously unbeaten Canyons.
After a disappointing performance a week ago, the Pirate golf team rebounded nicely, placing third at the Western State Conference event at Antelope Valley Country Club Monday. The Pirates posted a team score of 395, coming behind league-leading Canyons at 372 and just behind Santa Barbara with a 302. Zack Garboski led Ventura with a 3-over 75 to tie for fourth individually while AJ Ryland was tied for seventh with a 5-over 77.
The VC golf team found difficulty in carding low scores Monday, finishing sixth of eight teams at he Western State Conference No. 4 event hosted by Allan Hancock College at Santa Maria Country Club. The Pirates turned a team score of 412, led by AJ Ryland's 5-over 77 and Zack Garboski's 7-over 79.
The VC golf team battled low temperatures and a cold rain Monday, carding a respectable team score of 406 at the Riverside City College Invitational at the Victoria Country Club. The Pirates tied for 11th among the 16 participating schools, including some of Southern California's best teams. Joshua Calderon was the low man for Ventura with a 7-over par 79.
The Ventura College golf team battled difficult conditions Monday, finishing in the middle of a 12-team field at the Pt. Conception Open at La Purisma Golf Club in Lompoc. The Pirates turned in a team score of 433 to finish sixth overall. Nathan Long carded an 81 to lead Ventura to place 13th individually, and AJ Ryland shot an 85. Saddleback went low in the team standings with a 395 to claim the team title and Desert came in second with a 409. Western State Conference foe Glendale was third with a 413.
