No. 1 Pirates Earn Top Seed in SCFA Playoffs

After the second perfect regular season in school history, the No. 1-ranked Ventura College football team has received top billing in the Southern California Football Association Playoffs. The Pirates (10-0) will open the post-season on Saturday Nov. 27 at the VC Sportsplex against No. 4-seed Riverside (8-2). Kickoff is slated for 6:00 pm with gates opening at 4:45 pm.

The Pirates have been ranked in the top-4 in the state all season. They completed the undefeated season by sweeping through the SCFA's Northern Conference.  Riverside, meanwhile, was ranked No. 3 in Southern California in the state's final poll and claimed the Central Conference title.  The Tigers' two losses, both in non-conference play, came at the hands of No. 2 Golden West and No. 3 Canyons.

The Pirates and Tigers did not meet in 2021. When looking at common opponents, VC Long Beach 66-21 on Oct. 16, and Saddleback 31-17 on Oct. 2, while the Tigers also defeated the Vikings 24-6 on Sept. 11 and Bobcats 33-6 on Sept. 18.  Ventura defeated Canyons 19-7 on Nov. 6 while RCC dropped their game against the Cougars 41-24 on Oct. 2.

Tickets can be printed at home or made available on a hand held device.  Tickets can also be bought at the gate with a mobile device.  No cash will be accepted for tickets.

Admission, set by the CCCAA, is $12 for adults and $8 for seniors, students and children. Only CCCFCA or CCCAA passes are accepted for complimentary admission. VC football season passes, SCFA passes and ASVC ID's will not be accepted for entry.

The Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD) asked that all fans complete COVID prescreening before coming to campus. VCCCD pre-screeners will present at the entrance to the VC Sportsplex to assist with prescreening. VCCCD follows California guidance for outdoor events and masks are not mandatory for this outdoor event.
