Ventura Tops SCFA With Scholar Athlete Recognition
Ventura Tops SCFA With Scholar Athlete Recognition

For the third year in a row, and for the fourth time in the past five years, the Pirate football team has topped the Southern California Football Association's Scholar-Athlete team. VC has placed a program-best 20 players on the honor roll, led by offensive lineman Dane Nelson with a 3.95 Grade Point Average and by tight ends Trennan Carlson and Jared Thomsen at 3.58 and 3.54, respectively. All of these honorees have also been nominated for Academic All-State. The Pirates achieved a 3.01 GPA as a team in the fall, posting an 11-2 record while capturing the school's first ever SCFA Championship, advancing to the CCCAA state championship game in December.

Pirate Football Announces 13 Signees in Class of 2018

Ventura College football and head coach Steve Mooshagian has announced that 13 players from the 2018 Southern California Football Association champions have inked scholarships or committed to play at four-year schools.  Among the mid-year transfers, early signees, and signing period commits, Nine have inked with NCAA Division I schools, six playing in the Football Bowl Series with three in the Football Championship series, and four will transfer to NCAA Division II schools.

Pirate Comeback Just Short in CCCAA Championship Game

The Ventura College football team ended the greatest season in school history just short, 13 yards short. Driving for a potential championship-winning score, time ran out on the Pirates 13 yards shy of the end zone Saturday as they fell in the CCCAA State Championship game in Sacramento 40-35 to Laney College.

The Pirate football team takes the field against Laney College at 1:00 pm Saturday in the CCCAA State Championship game in Sacramento.
VC Football Set to Take State's Biggest Stage

It does't get any bigger than this. In the 90-plus years of Ventura College football, the Pirates have never played for a state title, until Saturday. The 2018 California Community College Athletic Association football season will reach its conclusion when the Southern California champion Ventura Pirates (11-1) will take on Northern California champion Laney College (10-2) at 1:00 pm at Sacramento's historic Hughes Stadium. Fans can watch the game live on Eleven Sports USA and online at http://baosn.tv/

Sophomore wide receiver Brandon Jordan hauled in six receptions for 102 yards and a score, earning Most Valuable Player honors as the Pirate football team advanced to the CCCAA state championship game with a 31-21 win at Riverside for the Southern California Football Association title.
Pirate Football Will Play For One More in State Title Game

Already in uncharted territory, the Pirate football team continued its journey to "Play for More" Saturday night with a 31-21 victory at Riverside City College in the Southern California Football Association championship game. Wide receiver Brandon Jordan had six catches for 102 yards and a touchdown to earn Most Valuable Player honors, and defensive back Jaylen Watson had a team-high nine tackles to earn Defensive Player of the Game accolades as the Pirates advance to the CCCAA State Championship to be played Saturday Dec. 8 in Sacramento against Laney College.

VC linebackers Trennan Carlson (10) and Dondre Baker (28) combined for 10 stops, and Carlson had a blocked punt and a forced fumble in the Pirates' 21-13 SCFA semifinal victory at Canyons Saturday.
Pirates Wrap Up First Ever Football Playoff Victory

The Pirate football team turned the tables on previously undefeated Canyons, turning a blocked punt and two turnovers into 21 points in their 21-13 Southern California Football Association semifinal victory over the No. 1-seeded Cougars Saturday night. Trennan Carlson (punt block, forced fumble), Dewayne Coleman (fumble recovery) and Jaylen Watson (interception) all provided key plays in the victory and Thomas Duckett ran for 137 yards on offense to lead Ventura (10-1) to the program's first ever football playoff victory.
