Luton, Mooshagian Lead Pirates in Northern Conference Awards
Record-setting quarterback Jake Luton and VC head coach Steve Mooshagian lead a host of Pirates who have been honored by the Southern California Football Association Northern Conference in its annual awards announced last week. Luton was named the Offensive Player of the Year in the All-Conference awards while Mooshagian was named the Coach of the Year after leading Ventura to an undefeated conference campaign, its third straight conference championship, and into the SCFA playoffs for the third time in five years.

Luton was one of three unanimous first-team offensive selections for VC. Center Josh Mantle and tackle Jake Colman were the other two. They were joined on the first team offense by tight end Logan Javernick, wide receiver Cam Taylor, and utility back Jonte Broski.
Defensively, Vosean Crumbie received two unanimous selections as both cronerback and punt returner. Outside linebacker Darrian McIntyre was also a unanimous pick, and was joined on the first-team defense by defensive end Mark Zavala and inside linebacker Kendrick Bradley.
The second-team offense included tackle Maisen Knight and guard Darius Choury along with wide receiver Kendric Mallory, running back Isaiah Brown and all-purpose back Brian Burt.
Three Pirates were honored as second-team all-conference on defense including tackle Charles Franklin, inside linebacker Grant Bouma and safety Alvin Pacheco.
Offensive guard Pousima Galoia, wide receiver Brandon Jordan and all-purpose wideout Elijah Alexander all received honorable mention nods on offense.
Safeties Kalaii Griffin and Richard Leveille, and cornerbacks Devonte Smith and Dre Jackson were named honorable mention of defense.
