Cowart Named Defensive PoW
The Pirate football team won at Bakersfield's Memorial Stadium for the first time ever Saturday night in part due to a tough defensive effort. Leading the charge was defensive back Antonio Cowart, who has earned the Southern California Football Association Northern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts.

FOOTBALL: The Pirate football team won at Bakersfield's Memorial Stadium for the first time ever Saturday night in part due to a tough defensive effort. Leading the charge was defensive back Antonio Cowart, who had a monster game. The 6-foot-1 freshman had five tackles, including one for a loss, three pass break-ups and a pair of interceptions to lead VC to its 24-16 victory over the Renegades. Cowart has earned the Southern California Football Association Northern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts.
