Baseball breaks game open in fourth, rolls past LA Pierce 24-2

The Pirate baseball team broke a scoreless game open with four runs in the fourth inning and never let up Tuesday, overpowering Los Angeles Pierce 24-2 in Woodland Hills. Santiago Avila totaled four hits with two runs batted in and two runs scored to help lead the offensive explosion while Grant Rodriguez had a double and a triple with two RBI while scoring four runs.  Nate Slaton got on base six times with three hits and three walks, scoring four times. The Pirates scored in six innings overall and turned the game into a rout with additional surges in the fifth, seventh, eighth and ninth behind a deep offensive performance and a strong start from Johnny Levelis.

Ventura walks off Santa Barbara 8-7 after ninth-inning rally

The VC baseball team survived a wild ninth inning and answered with the final run in the bottom half, beating Santa Barbara 8-7 on Tuesday at Pirate Park. After building a six-run lead, the Pirates watched Santa Barbara score five times in the top of the ninth to pull even at 7-7 before Ventura ended it with a walk-off run. Mario Franco recorded four hits, including a double, with a run batted in and a run scored. Meanwhile Johnny Levelis produced a quality start on the mound, working into the sixth inning and giving up one run.

The VC baseball team swept a double header Saturday at Pirate Park against Los Angelees Pierce College, 6-2 and 11-7. Tyler Field led the effort with two doubles, a home run and four runs batted in on the day for the Pirates (7-8, 2-1) and Hector Pina recorded a pair of two-baggers with three RBI. Will Kaczynski pitched five scoreless innings to pick up the win in Game 1 and Alex Villacana gave up one run over 2.2 innings of middle relief for the victory in the nightcap.

The Pirate baseball team piled up runs early and never let up, rolling to a 20-7 win over West Los Angeles Wednesday at Pirate Park behind a pair of five-run frames and a balanced offensive attack that backed a strong start from right-hander Johnny Levelis. Lucas Martinov and Nate Lajole combined for eight RBIs on the day to lead VC.

Baseball Sweeps Compton to Open Season

The VC baseball team swept Compton in a home-and-home series Friday and Saturday to open their 2026 campaign. Hector Pina smashed out five hits, including a home run, with three runs batted in and four runs scored while Tyler Field also recorded a home run among five hits with four RBI in the two games. Jacob Roa and Will Kaczynski each made solid starts on the mound while Nicholas Tosatado and Connor Jacobson each picked up wins in relief for the Pirates (2-0).
