Women's Polo drops season finale in WSC Tourney
The VC woomen's water polo team battled to the final horn Saturday, but ultimately came up short i the third place game o fthe Western State Conference Tournament, falling to LA Valley, Julia Glukhovsky led the effort wit hsix goals and six drawn ejections and Parker Pratt had three scores with two assists. Ami Cruz handed out four helpers as the PIrates ended their 2025 campaign at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
The VC women's water polo team battled to the final horn Saturday, but ultimately came up short i the third place game of the Western State Conference Tournament, falling to LA Valley, Julia Glukhovsky led the effort with six goals and six drawn ejections and Parker Pratt had three scores with two assists. Ami Cruz handed out four helpers as the Pirates ended their 2025 campaign at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
Glukhovsky's six ED's gives her a total of 62 on the season which is a new program record.
The game was tight throughout with Ventura taking an early 3-1 lead on goals by Stevie Sturges, Glukhovsky and Pratt. The Pirates led 4-3 at the end of the first quarter before LA Valley came back to hold a 7-4 advantage entering halftime.
Early in the third period, the Monarchs opened up an 9-5 advantage, spurring a comeback by the Pirates. Cruz assisted back-to-back goals by Glukhovsky and Pratt and Glukhovsky found the inside of the cage twice in the final 21 seconds of the quarter as Ventura trailed 10-9 heading to the final stanza.
Pratt answered an LAVC goal with her own score with 6:43 remaining in the game to keep the Pirates within 11-10, but that would be as close as they could get. LA Valley netted four consecutive scores down the stretch as Ventura dropped the 15-11 decision to the Monarchs.
Pratt added a pair of assists to her stat line in the game and Glukhovsky and Audrey Hernandez each had a pair of steals defensively. Bella Bruno recorded seven saves in the cage for the Pirates (9-18, 3-5).
