Knowles, Murdoch and Rojelio Lead Seven on All-WSC Team

The VC women's volleyball team capped off one of the best season's in school history with seven All-Western State Conference awards. Leading the way is WSC North Division Player of the Year Nevada Knowles, the second straight PoY award for the Pirate sophomore. Meanwhile freshmen Kayla Murdoch and Autumn Rojelio Moreno each earned first team ALL-WSC honors.

Knowles, the Pirates' do-everything setter/outside hitter won her second consecutive conference Player of the Year award. The Ventura High School grad was listed among the league leaders in kills, hitting percentage, assists, service aces, digs and blocks in helping Ventura to a 22-1 regular season record and a 9-1 mark in the WSC North.

Murdoch played the perfect co-star in earning first team All-WSC accolades as an outside hitter. An alumna from Thousand Oaks High School, she led the conference in kills, kills per set and hitting percentage while recording the third-most solo blocks in the WSC-N. She set a school record for kills and finished second all-time in hitting percentage.

Rojelio, a Buena High School product, led the Pirate defense from her libero position.  She was among the conference leaders in digs and service aces for the 2022 season in earning her first team all-conference honor.

Meanwhile, sophomores Katey Mulville (Oxnard HS) and Averi Carter (Foothill Tech HS) each were named second team All-WSC in the voting by the conference coaches last month. Sophomore Amelie Zubia (Ridgecrest-Burroughs HS) and freshman Kylie Ibbotson (Moorpark HS) earned honorable mention All-WSC nods.

The Pirates claimed their second straight conference title in 2022, their third in the past four seasons. VC ended the season with a 23-2 overall record, advancing to the Southern California Regional Finals for the second year in a row.
