VC Spikers Open 2014 With Victory

Sophomore Sarah Veloz had an outstanding match with 19 kills, 15 digs, and five aces leading the Ventura College volleyball team to a 21-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-19 victory at Imperial Valley College Friday evening.  

The Pirates also received strong performances from freshman Cassandra Lacanilao with 42 digs and five aces and sophomore Kirra Drury with 14 kills and 14 digs.  Sophomore Mehgan Lambert contributed nine kills while freshman Shelby Stanger handed out 48 assists with 10 digs and a pair of aces.

Ventura (1-0), will travel to Woodland Hills on Saturday Sept. 6 to play Rio Hondo and Chaffey in the Pierce College Quad.  VC opens their home schedule on Wednesday Sept. 10 against Santa Monica.
