VC Wins First Home Match of 2015

Playing its first match if the season in Ventura, the Pirates' women's tennis team defeated Chabot College 8-1 at Camino Real Park to open the VC North/South Challenge Friday afternoon.  Bailey Sindle led VC, winning No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-1, and winning No. 1 doubles with Yannick Garcia, defeating their opponents 8-3.  Garcia also won in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2.

Jia Wiebe secured two points, in No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-4) and with Katy Scheck in No. 2 doubles (8-2).  Scheck also won in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Chelsea Peterson win in No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-3, and Candace Nito and Jessica Powell prevailed in No. 3 doubles, 8-6.

The Pirates return to the Ventura College Tennis Center on Saturday Feb. 14 to conclude the North/South Challenge against Sequoias at 12:00 pm and against Fresno at 3:00 pm
