VC Soccer Ranked 16th in Poll
The Ventura College women's soccer team is once again expected to have a banner season. The Pirates, who have won 15 of the past 17 Western State Conference North Division crowns, have been voted No. 16 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America pre-season JC/CC Division III poll. VC finished 2012 ranked No. 12 in the national survey.
WOMEN'S SOCCER The Ventura College women's soccer team is once again expected to have a banner season. The Pirates, who have won 15 of the past 17 Western State Conference North Division crowns, have been voted No. 16 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America pre-season JC/CC Division III poll. VC finished 2012 ranked No. 12 in the national survey. Ventura will open the 2013 season on Thursday Aug. 29 at home at 8:00 pm against No. 19 San Francisco in the Nike Soccer Community College Classic at the VC Sportsplex.
Ventura is the highest ranked WSC North squad, but will face four other ranked opponents throughout the season. Teams on the Pirates' docket include No. 2 Santiago Canyon (Sept. 11, away), No. 4 Sierra (Aug. 31, home, 3:15 pm) , No. 6 San Diego Miramar (Sept. 17, home, 5:30 pm) and No. 19 San Francisco (Aug. 29, home, 8:00 pm).
