The Ventura College men's and women's track and field teams are sending four athletes to the 3C2A State Championships next week after competition at the Southern California Regionals Friday at Cerritos. Sophia Godina and Brianna Torres will be traveling to Saddleback on May 17-18 to represent the Pirate women while Trevor McCarthy and Erick Tienda will compete for the men at state.
VC's men's and women's track and field teams had a strong day Friday at the Western State Conference Prelims at Antelope Valley College. Brianna Torres captured gold in the women's 10k final and Trevor McCarthy won the men's javelin final to lead Ventura in the competition. Numerous other Pirates turned in strong performances to qualify for the WSC Finals coming up April 26.
The Pirates' men's and women's track and field teams split their time Friday, with most competing at the Cerritos Invitational while a handful traveled to the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University. VC performances were highlighted by Carlos Oregel in the 3000m steeplechase at Cerritos while Erick Tienda and Sophia Godina produced top times in the 1500m races at APU.

Both the men's and women's teams delivered stellar performances, with numerous lifetime bests and notable achievements, including highlights from Charys Pyle and sister Brooke Pyle on the women's side and Thomas Dore and Trevor McCarthy for the Pirate men. The achievements solidified VC's status as top contender in the Western State Conference.
In a display of talent and teamwork, the VC men's and women's track and field teams emerged victorious at the Western State Conference North Meet in San Luis Obispo. Sophia Godina claimed gold in three individual events while Charys Pyle, Brooke Pyle and Cassandra O'Reilly also posted individual victories. Erick Tienda and Thomas Dore were triple winners to lead the Pirate men. Micah Contreras and Trevor McCarthy also had gold medal performances for Ventura.
In a thrilling showcase of talent and determination, the Ventura College Track and Field team hosted the Western State Conference Relays on Friday. Charys Pyle led the Pirate women placing in three events while the men's 4x100 and Sprint Medley relay teams each secured gold medal finishes. Erick Tienda won both the 5k run and the 3000m steeplechase.
