Pirate Women Claim First WSC Title Since 1984.

On the strength of 11 individual Western State Conference gold medals, including five from Stina Johansson, two each from Ariana Vera and Charlotte Allison along with golds by Cassandra O'Reilly and Citllali Cortez, the Ventura College women's track and field team captured its first WSC team championship in 38 years Friday in Santa Monica. The VC men finished seventh in the conference finals as both teams turn their attention to the SoCal Preliminaries coming up May 6.

Pirates Compete at WSC Preliminaries

The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Western State Conference Preliminaries Friday at the College o fthe Canyons in Santa Clarita. Most of the competition was about qualifying for the conference finals on April 29, but five events were contested to the end for both the men and women. Charlotte Allison and Stina Johansson claimed golds for the Pirate women while Josh Weinerth grabbed a bronze for the Ventura men.

Ventura College track athlete Citilali Cortez won the 100m hurdles and claimed third in the 400m hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays Saturday in Walnut. She also joined Aubrianna Smith, Ariana Vera and Cassandra O'Reilly to finish third in the 4x100m relay.
Mt. SAC Relays Provides Early State Test for Pirate Track & Field

The Pirates' track and field teams competed in the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday, putting up strong marks in an early state championship preview in some key events. The VC women's 4x100m relay team of Aubrianna Smith, Ariana Vera, Citlalli Cortez and Cassandra O' Reailly ran a season best, and they also had standout performances individually. The Men's 4x100m relay quartet of Jaedon Rogers, Ethan Figlio, Isaiah Martinez Spence and Julian Gibson also ran a strong race at Ventura's final tune-up before the Western Satte Conference Preliminaries.

VC Women Tie for 1st at WSC-Coast Track Meet

The Ventura College women's track and field team had an amazing day Friday, earning 151 points to claim a first place tie with host Cuesta at the Western State Conference Coast meet in San Luis Obispo. Stina Johansson was a triple winner on the day while Charlotte Allison claimed two golds. Aubrianna Smith, Ariana Vera and Citllali Cortez also produced first place finishes. Danilo Juarez recorded the Pirate men's lone gold medal on the day.

Pirates Compete at APU's Franson Classic

The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Franson Classic at Asuza Pacific University on Saturday with more solid results from multiple athletes. Aubriana Smith and Ariana Vera headlined accomplishments on the women's side in the 100m and 200m, respectively. Meanwhile Jaedon Rogers continued to excel in the triple jump and Ramiro Mateos made a strong debut in the 3000m steeplechase for the Pirate men.

Ventura Track & Field Competes at Occidental Classic

The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Occidental Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic Saturday in Eagle Rock with several season-best performances. Jaedon Rogers won silver in the men's long jump against a host of two-year and four-year schools while the women's 4x100m relay team of Aubrianna Smith, Ariana Vera, Nicole Rivera Cortez and Citlalli Cortez finished fifth overall.

Men's and Women's Track & Field Each Second at WSC North Meet

The VC men's and women's track & field teams both eplaces second of six competing teams at the Western State Conference North meet Friday at Bakersfield College. Charlotte Allison claimed three individual golds and Stina Johansson won two races to lead the Pirate women. Meanwhile, Jaedon Rogers won an individual gold and also claimed a bronze finish for the Ventura men.

Pirate track & Field Opens Season at WSC Relays

Conditions were great in Lancaster Friday as the VC men's and women's track and field teams opened their 2022 campaign at the Western State Conference Relays hosted by Antelope Valley College. Cassandra O'Reilly and Charlotte Allison both claimed golds for the Ventura women while Jaedon Rogers pcked up a win for the men as a number of athletes turned in solid performances on opening day.
