Pirate Women Compete at CCCAA State Championships

Four Pirate women competed at the CCCAA State Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday through Saturday at East Los Angeles College. The quartet of Allison Harris, Grace Given, Shelby Jackson and Lauren Pierce earned a total of 43 points for VC, good for a tie for 21st place overall among 39 scoring teams.

Four Pirate women competed at the CCCAA State Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday through Saturday at East Los Angeles College. The quartet of Allison Harris, Grace Given, Shelby Jackson and Lauren Pierce earned a total of 43 points for VC, good for a tie for 21st place overall among 39 scoring teams.

Harris was Ventura's top point earner, placing in two events. She earned California All-American honors by finishing eighth in the 1m diving event on Thursday before coming in ninth in the 3m competition on Friday.

Given produced the Pirates' top individual finish, touching in seventh place in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday.

Jackson came in eighth in the 100-yard butterfly, also on Friday.

Pierce competed in the 1m diving event on Thursday, finishing one spot out of the points for VC.
