Pirate Swimmers Hanging Tough at WSC Championships

The Ventura College men's and women's swim teams continued competition on day two of the three-day Western State Conference Championships on Friday in Bakersfield with both teams maintaining a fourth place standing. Adrianna Bese provided the best finish of the meet to this point for the women with her silver medal in the 100-yard breast stroke while Cooper Fuchs continued his strong meet with a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke to lead the men.

VC freshman Katie Heath earned fifth place in the Western State Conference in both the 1m and 3m springboard diving competition at the WSC/SoCal Diving Championships at El Camino College on Friday and Saturday.

Pirate freshman Katie Heath earned VC's first points in the Western State Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. She came in fifth place finish in both the 1m and 3m springboard diving competition at the WSC/SoCal Diving Championships at El Camino College in Torrance Friday and Saturday. With her performance, she gave the Ventura women 28 points heading into next week's WSC Championships at Bakersfield.

Pirate sophomore Christina Jimenez scored points in the 500-yard freestyle, placing 14th Friday at the Pasadena City College Invitational, and was also part o the 400-yard medley relay team that also finished 14th.

The Ventura College men's and women's swim teams had good performances Friday at the Pasadena City College Invitational. Cooper Fuchs continued his strong season earning points in three individual events and with two more relay teams. Meanwhile, Adrianna Bese had the best finish for the Pirate women, and helped also one relay into the scoring column.

Pirate freshman Adrianna Bese had a pair of top-8 finishes Saturday at the Western State Conference #2 meet in Bakersfield, finishing fourth in the 100-yard breast stroke and sixth in the 100-yard butterfly.
Pirate Swimmers Compete at WSC #2 in Bakersfield

The Ventura College swim teams competed in the Western State Conference #2 meet in Bakersfield Saturday with the men finishing third of the eight competing teams and the women placing fourth of 10 teams. Cooper Fuchs led the charge on the men's side with three top-8 finishes, including first place in the 50-yard freestyle and two second place finishes. Adrianna Bese, Christina Jimenez, Kelsey Golden and Gracelyn De La Cruz all recorded a pair of top-8 finishes for the Pirate women.

Ventura freshman Cooper Fuchs claimed three individual golds Friday at the Western State Conference Meet #1 hosted at the Ventura Aquatic Center. The Pirte men and women both placed second as a team in the four-team event.
Ventura Men and Women Both Second at WSC #1

On a cold, windy and rainy day at the Ventura Aquatic Center, the water was just fine fo rthe Pirates' men's and women's swimming and diving teams. Both squads placed a strong second in the four-team meet. Cooper Fuchs led the VC men with three individual golds while David Peterson and Raleigh Mendez each claimed two first place finishes. Katie Heath won both diving events for the women while Christina Adrianna Bese won the other individual gold for Ventura.

Pirates Take Part in Mt. San Antonio Invitational

The Ventura College men's and women's swim teams took part in Saturday's races at the 3-day Mt. San Antonio Invitational with positive results for both squads. Cooper Fuchs was a workhorse for the Pirate men, achieving top-16 results in three individual events along with two relays. Meanwhile Katie Heath place din three individual events for the women and Mikayla Cvijanovich scored in two individual events and with two relays for the VC women.

The Ventura College men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened the 2018 season at the Western State Conference John Joseph Pentathlon Friday at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Raleigh Davis and David Peterson were the top performers for the Pirate men while Katie Heath and Mikala Cvijanovich had the best performances for the VC women.
