Pirates Split Make-Up Date
In a make-up from an earlier rain-out, the Pirate softball team split a pair of games in Santa Clarita on Saturday. VC defeated the host College of the Canyons Cougars 3-0 in the first game before falling to Santa Ana College 9-5 in the second. Ashley Thorp had four hits in the two games for Ventura (15-15-1, 6-4) and Alyssa Mendoza had a pair of hits and scored a run.

Alex Thorp threw a shutout for the Pirates, scattering seven hits with four strikeouts while adding a hit with an RBI on offense. Roxanne Lopez and Emily Heath each had a hit and scored a run while Ashley Thorp had a hit with an RBI.
Ventura 5, Santa Ana 9
Ashley Thorp went 3-4 with a triple and Ashley Cerda was 2-4. Alyssa Mendoza also produced a pair of hits while scoring a run.
VC resumes Western State Conference Gold Division play on Tuesday, April 8 at Oxnard with a double-header beginning at 1:00 pm.
