On Sept. 12 at the Golden West Tournament in Huntington Beach, the teams were tied at 9-9 midway through the fourth quarter before Evan Augusta, Patrik Bötkös and Milos Djanic scored late goals for a 12-9 Ventura win.
The teams clashed again on Oct. 24 at the Orange Coast Tournament in Costa Mesa. Ventura opened up a 12-4 lead after three quarters of play before posting a 15-10 triumph over the Bobcats. Owen Patterson, Nico Rosado and Bötkös all found the inside of the cage three times to lead VC.
Finally, just two weeks ago, at the Día de los Muertos Tournament at Southwestern, the regional playoff site, the Pirates came away with a thrilling 10-9 victory. Daniel Vadas scored three goals and totaled five steals in the game while Wyatt Dingman found the inside of the cage twice, including the game-winner with 1:37 remaining.
The winner of Thursday's first round match-up will take on No. 2 Long Beach (22-6) on Friday afternoon.
