Men's water polo sophomore Alexis Nava has been named first team All-Western State Conference for the 2022 season as voted by the conference coaches last month. Nava, a Pacifica High School alumnus, led VC in goals scored, steals and ejections drawn during this past season. Sebastion Cornejo and Joseph Lowrey were named second team All-WSC while George Bonilla and Carlos Gonzalez earned Honorable Mention nods.
The VC men's water polo team ended the regular season with a contest at Los Angeles Valley College in Valley Glen Wednesday. Joe Lowry led the Pirates with a goal, two steals, a field block and two drawn ejections. Carlos Gonzalez also grabbed a pair of steals in the setback to the Monarchs.
The VC men's water polo team continued to show progress Wednesday afternoon in their home finale against Santa Monica at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Alexis Nava continued his solid play with a six-goal performance while Sebastian Cornejo scored a goal with two assists and two steals. Joe Lowry recorded a pair of goals with two helpers in the 16-10 setback to the Corsairs.
The VC men's water polo team competed at the Cuesta 2 Tournament Saturday in San Luis Obispo. Sophomore Alexis Nava led the effort with eight goals and three steals in the Pirates' games against Las Positas and Ohlone colleges. George Bonilla recorded three goals and three steals on the day.
The VC men's water polo team dropped a 15-9 decision at Citrus College in Glendora Wednesday. Joe Lowry, Alexis Nava, Sebastian Cornejo and Carlos Gonzalez all had a pair of goals for Ventura in the balanced effort against the Owls. Sebastian Ayala turned back 10 shits in the cage.
The VC men's water polo team dropped a pair of decisions Saturday to wrap up the Saddleback Invitational in Mission Viejo. The Pirates fell to Merced in the first game 14-7 before dropping a 12-7 final against Modesto. Alexis Nava once again led the Pirate offense with seven goals on the day and Matthew Ogonowski netted three scores. George Bonilla found the inside of the cage twice with two steals in the morning contest.
The Ventura College men's water polo team dropped its Western State Conference opener Wednesday afternoon. The Pirates fell 16-4 to state No. 3-ranked Cuesta at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Sebastian Cornejo scored a pair of goals for VC while Alexis Nava and Carlos Gonzalez also found the inside of the cage.
