Campbell First Team All-WSC For Men's Water Polo

VC freshman Trevor Campbell earned first team All-Western State Conference in voting by the conference coaches following the season last month. The Agoura High School product missed a quarter of the season due to a nose injury, but worked hard to get back in shape upon his return to the pool, and was a crucial player for the Pirates. He was joined by second team All-WSC honorees, sophomores Tanner Islander and Frank Lopez.

Men's Polo Falls at Santa Monica in WSC Tournament

The Ventura College men's water polo team dropped a 14-10 decision at Santa Monica Wednesday in the opening round of the Western State Conference Tournament. Tanner Islander and Jake Peters each scores three goals while Trevor Campbell netted a pair of scores in the season finale for the Pirates.

Pirates Drop Regular Season Finale

The VC men's water polo team had a difficult afternoon Wednesday against Los Angeles Valley College at the Ventura Aquatic Center. The Pirates trailed the Western State Conference leading Monarchs 4-2 at the end of one quarter, but LAVC pumped in nine goals in the second quarter to put the game away. Tanner Islander scored twice and Austin Brunk and Brandon Bence each netted a score in the game for VC (2-16, 0-4).

Jake Peters had a pair of goals and two steals in the Pirates' two games at Orange Coast on Saturday.
Men's Polo Drops Pair at Orange Coast Mini

The VC men's water polo team continued the battle Saturday in Costa Mesa, dropping a pair of games at the Orange Coast Mini. VC (2-15, 0-3) lost to Grossmont 16-11 in the opener before coming up short in the battle of Pirates against Orange Coast, 20-5. Tanner Islander had four goals and three steals on the day while Austin Brunk scored twice with tow assists, four steals, three drawn exclusions and two shot blocks.

Ventura Drops Close Game at Santa Monica

The Ventura College men's water polo held a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, but could not hold on in their 11-8 loss at Santa Monica on Wednesday afternoon in Western State Conference play. Tanner Islander netter three goals with an assist to lead the Pirates (2-13, 0-3) and Zander Galvin had two scores in the game. Evan Hanely recorded 14 saves in the cage to keep the game within reach for VC.

Men's Polo With Difficult Tournament at Cuesta

The Pirates' men's water polo team had a difficult trip to Morro Bay, dropping four games over the weekend at the Cuesta Tournament played at Morro Bay High School. Ventura (2-12, 0-2) dropped a Western State Conference game to Cuesta Saturday before falling to Saddleback in the nightcap. On Sunday VC fell to Orange Coast and Mt. San Antonio. Austin Brunk and Tanner Islander each had seven goals over the weekend to lead the Pirates.

Pirates Fall to Citrus in WSC Opener

The Ventura College men's water polo returned to action on Wednesday, dropping their Western State Conference opener 13-5 to visiting Citrus College at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Brandon Bence and Tanner Islander each scored two goals and Austin Brunk had a pair of assists to lead the Pirates (2-8). Evan Hanely had 12 saves in the cage.

Men's Water Polo Defeats Alumni in Home Opener

The VC men's water polo team continued their upswing with a solid 13-7 victory over the VC Alumni Saturday morning at the Ventura Aquatic Center. In a game that the alumni traditionally prove to be a troublesome opponent, the Pirates opened up an early 4-1 lead en route to the relatively easy victory. Austin Brunk scored three goals while Zander Galvin and Jake Peters each netted two scores for Ventura (2-7).

Men's Polo Gets First Victory of the Year at Mt. SAC Tournament

The Ventura College men's water polo team earned their first victory of the young season Saturday, an 18-8 decision over Southwestern College at the 45th Annual Mt. SAC Tournament. Sophomore Tanner Islander and freshman Austin Brunk continue to standout for the Pirates offensively with positive contributions from Sophomore Frank Lopez, freshmen Jake Peters and Riley Doucette, and others.

Men's Water Polo Shows Improvement in Opening Weekend

It was not the opening that first-year head coach Jorge Perez was hoping for, but the Pirates' men's water polo team showed signs of improvement in four games at the difficult Golden West Tournament in Huntington Beach. VC (0-4) dropped contests to Long Beach and Saddleback Friday before falling to American River and Rio Hondo Saturday. Tanner Islander and Austin Brunk each netted eight goals over the weekend to lead Ventura.

Jorge Perez has been named the new head men's water polo coach at Ventura College.
Jorge Perez Named VC Men's Water Polo Coach

The Ventura College Athletic Department is pleased to introduce Jorge Perez as the new head coach of the Pirates' men's water polo team. He comes to VC after a successful three-year stint as an assistant coach at Los Angeles Valley College where he helped direct the Monarchs to three consecutive Western State Conference championships. During his time in Valley Glen, LAVC was 53-33 overall and 16-3 in WSC play.
