2016 Ventura College Men's Water Polo Team News
VC freshmen CJ Daland and Clint Howard each were named first-team All-Western State Conference in men's water polo leading six Pirates on the all-conference list voted upon by conference coaches last month. The two utuility players were the team's leading scorers on offense and played an integral role on defense in a season in which Ventura went 20-14, posting the team's first 20-win campaign in a decade.
The Ventura College men's water polo team were defeated by host Cuesta College 14-7 in the 3rd Place game at the Western State Tournament Saturday in San Luis Obispo. After a scoreless first overtime period, CJ Daland assisted a breakaway goal by Kevin Smallwood with 1:08 remaining in the second extra stanza to lift the Pirates to victory.
