Men's Tennis Drops Close Match Against Menlo

The VC men's tennis team traveled to Avila Beach Sunday to take on Menlo College, falling to the NCAA Division II squad, 4-3. Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme won the No. 2 doubles match while Victor Peyrebonne, Abladj Mondroha and Manolo Vanbesien all recorded singles victories for the Pirates.

VC prevailed in one of the three doubles matches to cede the point to the Oaks. Guerrout and Cotti-Helme provided the win for Ventura, posting a 6-3 triumph on Court 2.

The Pirates fell behind 2-0 after falling in the No. 2 match-up in singles before Mondroha provided a spark with a 6-3, 6-1 win on Court 4. Menlo won on Courts 5 and 1, respectively to clinch the team win, but the Pirates continued the fight in the final two singles match-ups. Peyrebonne won his No. 3 singles contest, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 and Vanbesien claimed a marathon win on Court 6, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (8-6).

Ventura resumes Western State Conference play on Tuesday Mar. 17 at Santa Barbara.
