Men's Tennis Opens Season With Big Victory

The Ventura College men's tennis team opened up their 2019 season with a big 8-1 victory over visiting Fullerton College Friday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center. Antonio Rosales teamed up with Kyle Spiegelman to prevail in No. 1 doubles, 8-1, before Rosales captured No.1 singles 6-1, 6-1 and Spiegelman won in No. 4 singles, love and one. Alexandre Campolina, Thiago Batista and Charles De La Laurencie were also double winners on the day for VC (1-0).

Campolina and Batista were victorious in No. 2 doubles, 8-2 before Campolina triumphed in No. 3 singles in a tiebreaker and Batista win in No. 5 singles in straight sets. De La Laurencie and James Moulton won their No. 3 doubles match in a close contest and De La Laurencie won his No. 2 singles contest, love and three.

The Pirates will begin Western State Conference play on Tuesday Feb. 5 at Santa Barbara.
