VC Tennis Dominant at Santa Barbara

Posting a strong 8-1 victory, the Pirates' men's tennis team dominated play at Santa Barbara City College Thursday afternoon. In four of six singles matches, VC (3-0, 3-0) gave up two or less games in taking the match, including love and love victories by Cruz Thayne (No. 4) and Rodrigo Perdigao (No. 5). The doubles team of Manu Rowe and Hamilton Walker also blanked their opponents in the No. 2 doubles slot. 

Augustin Lestelle won in No. 1 singles, 6-4, 7-5 while Rowe (No. 3) and Florent Auteuil (No. 6) also posted victories, 6-, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-0, respectively. Whitaker and Thayne were winners in No. 1 doubles, 8-6, and Damon Mitchell and Sam Gazzera won in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.

The Pirates continue Western State Conference play at home Tuesday Feb. 28 against Bakersfield College.
