Men's Tennis Dominant in Win Over SBCC

The Ventura College men's tennis team took on Santa Barbara City College at home and remained undefeated with a dominant 8-1 win. Corey Karen and Hironori Koyanagi earned wins on the doubles and singles side of play. Guenter Newman, as well was a winner on the doubles side of play and on the singles side of play. 

Ventura (8-0, 5-0) used the team of Karen and Koyanagi at No. 1 doubles and the pair earned a 8-1 win. Karen was winner at No. 1 singles in straight sets by scores of 6-1, 7-6(5). Koyanagi played as the Pirates No. 2 singles player and won in straight sets by scores of 6-1, 6-2. Newman teamed up with Michael Burr as the Pirates No. 2 doubles team and were winners by the score of 8-4. Newman then went on to earn a win as the Pirates No. 3 singles player in straight sets by a score of 6-4, 6-1. 

VC as a team swept the doubles side of play and were winners in five of the six singles contests. In total the Pirates dropped only three sets on the singles side out of a total of 13 total contested sets. 

Ventura will play host to San Diego Mesa on Saturday Mar. 12 in a make up of a rain out from Saturday Mar. 5 start time is schedule for 12:00 pm. VC will then return to WSC play on Tuesday Mar. 15 with a home contest against Glendale College at 2:00 pm.
