Men's Golf Places Second at Home Event

The VC men's golf team placed second Monday at the Western State Conference event hosted at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard, the Pirates' home course. Freddie Carcamo had an excellent day shooting an even-par 72 to tie for second individually. Matthew Jones shot a one-over 73 and Donovan Chappell was three over par. With the second-place finish, Ventura moves into a tie for second in the overall conference standings.

Canyons won the day with a team score of 292 with the Pirates seven shots back at 299. Glendale was a close third with a 300 and Santa Barbara was fourth at 302.

Behind Carcamo's runner-up finish, Jones tied for sixth individually and Chappell tied for 11th.

Other VC golfers included Nathan Schultz, 79, Stephen Ong, 81 and Bradley Humphrey, 85.

Ventura will next head to Rancho Vista Golf Club in Palmdale on Monday April 6 for the WSC event hosted by Antelope Valley.
