Bublitz First, VC Golf Places Third at River Ridge

Pirate sophomore Nick Bublitz earned individual medalist honors and the VC golf team posted a team score of 385 to finish third at the Western State Conference No. 2 at Oxnard's River Ridge Victoria Lakes Golf Course. Bublitz shot an outstanding 3-under 69 to place first in the eight-team event while Logan Gonzalez and Brandon Flores each carded 5-over 77's to place in a tie for 13th for Ventura.

Canyons placed first as a team with a score of 370 followed by Santa Barbara at 383, just two shots ahead of the Pirates.

Other VC golfers competing Monday included Daniel Darwin (81), Matthew Fisher (81) and Nathan Schultz (82).

Ventura next competes at the WSC No. 3 event hosted by Santa Barbara at Alisal Ranch Golf Club in Solvang on Monday Feb. 17.
