Pirates 5th at WSC/Bakersfield; 7th in Rig City Invite

The Pirate golf team came in fifth in the Western State Conference event at Bakersfield Country Club Monday and seventh in the Rig City Invitational played simultaneously and hosted by Bakersfield College. Logan Gonzalez shot a 3-over 75 to lead VC, tying for ninth in the WSC competition and 14th in the invitational. Ian Chapital carded a 4-over 76 and AJ Ryland shot a 5-over 77 for Ventura.

Bakersfield and Glendale tied for first on the day with team scores of 375 followed by Canyons and Reedley a stroke behind. Fresno City and Santa Barbara each carded a 387, two strokes ahead of Ventura.

Other scores for the Pirates included Daniel Darwin with an 80, Hunter McCoy at 81 and Brandon Flores at 82.

Ventura will next travel to the 36-hole WSC Championships on Monday April 29 at Knollwood Golf Course in Granada Hills.
