VC Golf 6th at WSC Event, 9th at SoCal Preview

The Ventura College golf team traveled to Rio Bravo Country Club in Bakersfield Monday to simultaneously compete in the Western State Conference No. 4 event and the Southern California Preview. The Pirates' team score of 403 placed them sixth in the conference field and ninth in the wide regional competition. AJ Ryland was the low man for Ventura with a 6-over 78, good for a tie for 14th in the WSC event and tied for 27th in the SoCal group.

Behind Ryland, Ian Chapital, Daniel Darwin and Hunter McCoy all carded an 8-over 80. Logan Gonzalez shot an 85 for the Pirates and Logan Cook turned in an 87.

Bakersfield won both the SoCal Preview and the WSC meet over Canyons in a tiebreaker. Both teams shot a team score of 379. Mt. San Antonio (380) came in third among the regional teams, one shot off the pace, and Citrus (389) was third in the conference competition.

VC returns to the links on Monday March 18 at a State Preview meet at Sandpiper Golf Course outside Santa Barbara.
