Ventura 3rd in Make-Up WSC Event

The Ventura College golf team carded a team score of 397 to place third Monday at the make-up Western State Conference No. 3 at Sandpiper Golf Course in Goleta. AJ Ryland shot a 4-over 76 to pace the Pirates, finishing in a tie for second overall. Elijah Delsi tied for ninth individually with a 6-over 78.

Santa Barbara, Monday's host team, finished first by virtue of a lower sixth score after tying with Canyons at 388. Glendale was fourth, three shots behind VC.

Other Pirate scores on the day included Martin Alvarez with an 80, Zack Garboski at 81, Jonas Slattum carding an 82 and Nathan Long with an 84.

Ventura sits in third place in the conference standings, six games ahead of Glendale and Citrus heading to the 36-hole WSC Championships on Monday April 24 at Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo. The top four teams in the conference will qualify for the Southern California Regionls on May 8.
